The binding of metallic minerals to organic carbon (metal-bound OC) serves as a dominant protection mechanism for OC stability; however, the impact of permafrost dynamics on organo-mineral interactions in these carbon-rich peatland ecosystems remains poorly understood, yet have important implications for carbon cycling and emissions. Here we analyzed the metal-bound OC in permafrost-affected and non-permafrost peatlands of Northeast China, along with a synthesis of relevant data from 1,030 observations across major terrestrial ecosystems.
金属矿物与有机碳的结合(即金属结合态有机碳,metal-bound OC)是保障有机碳稳定性的主导性保护机制。然而,目前学界对多年冻土动态如何影响这类富碳泥炭地生态系统中的有机-矿物相互作用仍知之甚少,但该过程对碳循环与碳排放均具有重要的研究意义。本研究针对中国东北地区受多年冻土影响及未受多年冻土影响的泥炭地中的金属结合态有机碳展开分析,并整合了覆盖全球主要陆地生态系统的1030项观测相关数据。
