Insect diversity and abundance within grasslands versus mowed grass using distance-based sampling method (transect tape)

A 30 meter transect tape was used to collect data on insect diversity and abundance in grasslands versus mowed grass. One set of data was collected for each grassland and mowed grass (which were adjacent to each other). 5 different transects were inspected in mowed grass and 3 transects were inspected in the grasslands. Each transect tape was placed 5 meters adjacent to the previous tape placement location. The following data were recorded at each transect.<br>(1) Transect #<br>(2) Transect location: Whether it was placed in the mowed grass or the grasslands.<br>(3) Insect type: Insect's were placed in broad categories such as (but not limited to) ants, beetles, flies.<br>(4) The total number of insects were recorded as well.<br><br>
