In this study, we investigated the role of long non-coding RNAs and messenger RNAs in the skeletal muscle of pigs with intrauterine growth retardation. We identified differentially expressed lncRNAs and mRNAs in intrauterine growth retardation pigs compared to normal pigs. Functional analysis revealed that these differentially expressed lncRNAs and mRNAs were associated with the Glycolysis/Gluconeogenesis pathway. We constructed lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA interaction networks and identified core molecules related to Glycolysis/Gluconeogenesis. Furthermore, we validated the expression levels of Glycolysis/Gluconeogenesis-related genes in intrauterine growth retardation pig skeletal muscle, which were significantly reduced. This study provides a comprehensive dataset highlighting the dysregulation of the Glycolysis/Gluconeogenesis pathway in IUGR pig muscle and offers new insights into the role of lncRNAs and mRNAs in the growth and development of intrauterine growth retardation pig skeletal muscle.
