Establishing the nature of a candidate Magnetar Wind Nebula
收藏资源简介:
In a short DDT XMM observation of the magnetar Swift J1834.90846 we havediscovered extended emission with very peculiar properties. The most probableinterpretation is a wind nebula powered by the ultrastrong magnetic field ofthe source. The nebula shows striking asymmetric morphology and a soft spectrumunusual for a pulsarwind nebula (PWN). The magnetar and its nebula are locatedwithin an SNR W41 and embedded in a field with TeV and GeV high energy sourceswhose origin is unknown. We propose a total of 150 ks observation for a detailedstudy of the nebula and the field sources. The nebula is the strongesttodatecandidate for an elusive Magnetar Wind Nebula (MWN) truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
