LINGUOCULTUROLOGY AND THE CONCEPT OF LINGUOCULTUREME

This article explores the role of linguoculturology as an interdisciplinary field connecting language and culture. It highlights how linguoculturology contributes to communicative linguistics by analyzing the interrelation between linguistic units and cultural values. The concept of linguocultureme is examined as a key component in understanding how culture is encoded in language. Various types of linguoculturemes—lexical, phraseological, proverbial, and symbolic—are analyzed with examples from Uzbek and English. The paper also discusses the main challenges of translating linguoculturemes across languages, emphasizing the importance of cultural adequacy over literal equivalence.
