The heat is on: Thermoregulatory and evaporative cooling patterns of desert-dwelling bats.

We investigated the thermoregulatory patterns of desert dwelling Lesser long-eared bats (Nyctophilus geoffroyi). Our results indicate that females are better adapted to conserve water than males and that they delay the onset of evaporative cooling than any other bat species yet studied.本研究针对栖息于沙漠环境的长耳小蝙蝠（Lesser long-eared bats，Nyctophilus geoffroyi）的体温调节模式展开了调查。研究结果显示，雌性个体相较于雄性更具备水分保存的适应能力，且其蒸发冷却的启动时间晚于所有迄今已被研究过的蝙蝠物种。
