Beats

In police terminology, a beat is the territory that a police officer patrols. A police "Beat" is based on traditional policing and utilizes the close relationship with the community. Beats in Dallas range from 0.13 Sq. Miles to 40.50 Sq. Miles; they can be relatively small areas to large areas to include the lakes. The beat geography allocates personnel and resources for the sector.
