Dietary anti-interleukin-4 effects on chicken cecal bacterial communities during coccidiosis

Coccidiosis due to Eimeria spp. infection in chicken contributes to significant economic losses for the global poultry industry annually. Novel therapeutics could address the ever-present effects of coccidiosis and dietary interventions could administer these compounds without the need for additional labor. Dietary antibodies to modulate the host immune response against Eimeria are an effective strategy. In this study, anti-interleukin-4 antibodies were developed and evaluated during coccidiosis challenge in broiler chickens with specific emphasis on host-microbiota interactions.
