Isospin transport and the Density Dependence of the Symmetry Energy

The nuclear symmetry energy is related to the isovector part of the nuclear Equation of State for uniform matter. It is of fundamental importance for the description of exotic nuclei (synthesis and structure), as well for the core-collapse of proto-neutron stars, and also the structure of the neutron stars (crust). Here, we propose to use heavy-ion induced reactions around the Fermi energy in order to study isospin transport with stable Nickel-58 and Nickel-64 beams. More specifically, we will use the new INDRA+FAZIA (12 blocks) set-up in D5 in order to investigate isospin diffusion and migration in binary dissipative collisions using the full isotopic information provided by FAZIA at forward angles for the reaction products, including light clusters and quasi-projectiles.
