Rhodococcus sp. strain A27 and strain A40 are novel lipid-producing bacterial isolates. Since oleaginous microorganisms represent an upcoming new feedstock for the biotechnical production of lipid-derived biofuels, both strains are of outstanding interest for our research in this area. Thus, we sequenced the genomes of both strains and the resulting data is now available for comparative genomics.
