Next-generation sequencing @ MICROMON

Micromon is a Monash University research platform that has been in operation for over 25 years. In 2007, we introduced one of the first Illumina Next-Generation Sequencing instruments in Australia. These instruments are used to determine the sequence of DNA and RNA - the fundamental set of instructions for the function of cells, tissues and organisms. These massively-parallel sequencing instruments have transformed the way genetic research is done. The data collection comprises an ever-growing set of raw sequence and computed data from genomes, transcriptomes, non-coding RNA, amplicons and other nucleic acid samples. These datasets form the core of a diverse range of projects carried out by local, national and international research groups.
