IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS: STRUCTURE AND MEANING IN ENGLISH

This article investigates idiomatic expressions in English with a focus on their structure, figurative meaning, and communicative function. Unlike conventional idioms, the examples used in this study are entirely original, demonstrating how multiword expressions can carry figurative meanings beyond their literal components. The research analyzes structural patterns, semantic transparency, and contextual interpretation, highlighting how idioms contribute to fluency and expressive capacity in language. The study emphasizes pedagogical strategies for teaching idioms effectively using invented examples.
