Dataset of Airborne CH₄ and CO₂ Measurements over the Northern Adriatic Sea Acquired by OA-ICOS Spectrometry (February 2015)

This dataset contains georeferenced measurements of atmospheric methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) acquired during a low-altitude airborne survey over the Northern Adriatic Sea on 20 February 2015. The survey was designed as a pilot study to assess the technical feasibility of airborne OA-ICOS spectrometry as a screening tool for natural geological greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from marine seepage areas. The Northern Adriatic Sea is a well-documented region of active gas seepage, where CH₄ and CO₂ emissions from the seafloor are associated with tectonic lineaments and carbonate outcrops linked to deep thermogenic gas systems. The dataset supports research on natural GHG emissions from marine environments, airborne monitoring methodology, and atmospheric dispersion modelling in coastal settings.
