BASIC COMPONENTS OF THE AUTOMOBILE ENGINE AND POWERTRAIN: AN ENGLISH–RUSSIAN TERMINOLOGY GUIDE FOR AUTOMOTIVE STUDENTS

Automobile engineering is an international field of study in which technical vocabulary is regularly exchanged between English, the dominant language of global engineering literature, and Russian, which remains a primary language of instruction and technical documentation across much of the post-Soviet region, including Uzbekistan. For students preparing to read foreign manuals, technical standards, or research articles, learning the correct pairing of an English term with its Russian equivalent is as important as understanding the part itself. This article introduces the basic components of the automobile engine and powertrain, presenting each term first in English, with the Russian equivalent given in parentheses, so that students build a working bilingual vocabulary alongside a technical understanding of how a car converts fuel into motion.
