Stable Water: The case of water-in-salt electrolytes

So-called 'water in salt' systems have been suggested for use as novel electrolytes, as it has been shown that the water is stable at far higher operating voltages than in bulk. Before looking at these systems in applied operating fields, it is important to examine the effect on the electrostatic and spatial confinement of the salt itself on the water. In that spirit, this proposal aims to use the VESUVIO instrument to examine the single particle dynamics of the proton in successive dilutions of the water-in-salt system.
