Genome-wide response of Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus to cystatin A, a peptidase inhibitor

Our recently released high-quality Dp genome assembly (Vidal-Quist et al., 2023) has been explored to provide detailed annotation and classification of gene groups potentially involved in dietary digestion and/or with a potential interest as allergy elicitors (e.g. hydrolases, peptidase inhibitors, allergen-related proteins). In addition, a feeding bioassay with exogenous cystatin A, coupled with a genome-wide transcriptomic survey to assess its effects, has been used as strategy to study Dp physiology, inferring genes with a possible digestive role based on their basal expression and their response to the inhibitor
