Evaluating the genetic consequences of reintroduction and translocation of Australian mammals

ddRAD-seq sequencing was used to genotype thousands of SNP markers in four mammal species reintroduced to Arid Recovery Reserve, South Australia. By sequencing samples from the founding individuals and the descendant population more than 15 years later, we characterised the change in genetic diversity since release. This information was used to guide management actions at the park and provide guidelines for future reintroduction attempts.
