Group II introns are mobile self-splicing ribozymes found in nearly one quarter of sequenced bacterial genomes. Ll.LtrB is a IIA-type group II intron found in Lactococcus lactis, whose function in bacteria is poorly characterized. Here we analyse the RNA-Seq profiles of L. lactis strains harboring 3 different Ll.LtrB variants to elucidate their impact on the transcriptome of the bacterial host.
