In law, women have the right to independent travel.
A YES score is earned where no law imposes restrictions to women's free and independent travel. For example, there are no laws requiring them to obtain permission to travel, travel with a companion, drive with a companion (or not drive at all), etc.

A mixed score is earned when in law, within the same country, some women have the right to free and independent travel and some don't, when different legal frameworks coexist (civil, customary, sharia, etc.).

A NO score is earned where a law imposes denies or restricts women's right to free and independent travel.
