miRNA expression profiling in mesenteric arteries of mice infused or not with angiotensin II for 7 and 14 days

We use next-generation sequencing (NGS) to profile miRNA in small arteries of mice infused with angiotensin (Ang) II for 7 and 14 days. The goal is to identify differentially expressed miRNAs that are associated with Ang II-induced vascular injury and hypertension. Ten to 12-week-old male C57BL/6J WT (Harlan laboratories, Indianapolis, IN) mice were infused SC with Ang II (1000 ng/kg/min) with ALZET osmotic mini pumps (model 1002, Durect Corporation) for 7 or 14 days. Control mice underwent sham surgery. At the end of the treatments, total RNA was extracted from mesenteric arteries for miRNA profiling using NGS by Illumina HiSeq 2500.
