Impact of 2 states of estradiol deficiency on satellite cell gene expression

Aging is associated with depletion of the satellite cell pool. Sexual dimorphism complicates this age-related alteration, as the loss of estradiol in female adults also reduces satellite cell number and functional recovery from injury. However, research on satellite cell functions in aging females is sparse. Here we investigate the hypothesis that in females estradiol deficiency leads to age-associated effects on satellite cells. We performed Bulk RNA Sequencing on ZsGreen+ cells isolated from Pax7ZsGreen female mice that were either Adult (3-4 mo), Aged (26 mo) or Adult ovariectomized mice.
