The goal of this work is to sequence a novel reovirus genome, discovered in Callinectes sapidus - CsRV2. The double-stranded RNA genome of CsRV2 consists of 12 segments. High nucleotide sequence identity with Eriocheir sinensis Reovirus 905 revealed this virus belongs to Cardoreovirus within the Reoviridae family. The public availability of the CsRV2 genome sequence should facilitate future studies on crab reovirus diseases as well as reovirus taxonomy.
