Land reclamation suitability data constructed based on physical geographic elements is a critical foundational dataset for research on the spatial allocation of historical cropland gridification, and its rationality directly dictates the reliability of gridification outcomes. Existing related studies assume that a single physical geographic element exerts a uniform linear impact on reclamation suitability at macro scales such as global or continental levels, which suffers from considerable irrationality. In this study, we first identified the correlations between 13 physical geographic elements (including climate, soil, topography, etc.) and current cropland reclamation rate across global land areas (excluding Antarctica) at the 0.5°× 0.5° grid cell scale. Then, we selectively screened the physical geographic elements that exhibit significant correlations with current cropland reclamation rate by region, and comprehensively constructed the global land reclamation suitability dataset. The resultant dataset can serve as a foundational resource for large-scale spatial allocation studies of historical cropland gridification at global or continental scales. This dataset comprises 4 data files stored in .img format, with a spatial resolution of 5′ × 5′, and has a total size of 38.7 MB (compressed into a single file of 3.55 MB).
