Profiling pig microglia gene expression

Microglia are thought to play a key role in brain in both homeostasis and diseases. The pig has been seen as an attractive, physiologically-relevant model for studying human neurological and mental disorders, as well as being an important agricultural species. Here we sought to characterise microglia markers genes for pigs. Overall design: Compared the gene expression in FACs sorted macrophages (n=3), cerebellum microglia (n=8), frontal cortex microglia (n=8), hippocampal microglia (n=8) and hippocampal tissue (n=4).
