NATURAL VEGETATION OF THE DESERT AREA OF THE KHOREZM OASIS AND THEIR LEPIDOFAUNA

This study explores the composition and ecological characteristics of natural vegetation in the desert zones of the Khorezm oasis, with particular emphasis on their associated lepidofauna. The research focuses on identifying dominant plant species adapted to arid conditions and analyzing their role as habitats and food sources for butterfly and moth populations. Field observations and ecological analysis reveal that xerophytic shrubs and halophytic plants form the primary vegetation cover, creating a unique microhabitat that supports diverse Lepidoptera species despite harsh environmental conditions. The interaction between plant communities and lepidofauna is examined from both trophic and ecological perspectives, highlighting the importance of plant diversity in sustaining insect biodiversity. The findings demonstrate that even sparsely vegetated desert ecosystems play a significant role in maintaining ecological balance and supporting species adaptation. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of biodiversity patterns in arid landscapes and emphasizes the need for conservation strategies aimed at protecting both plant and insect communities in the Khorezm region.
