Genome sequences of polyvinyl alcohol-degrading isolates, strain G1 and G2, were determined. Both strains were isolated from an activated sludge of a municipal wastewater treatment facility. Strain G1 harbors homologous genes of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) dehydrogenase (PVADH) and oxidized PVA hydrolase (OPH), while strain G2 has that of OPH. Strain G2 may have unknown PVA-degrading enzymes.
