VPRS 11949 Register of Cabinet Decisions (FoI), Cain/Kirner Government

This series comprises the register of Cabinet decisions required to be published under the Freedom of Information Act 1982. The portion of the series in custody comprises the extant portion of the register created by the Cain-Kirner government, 1983 to September 1992.  Section 10 (1) of the Act required the Premier to publish on a continuing basis a register containing: (a) details of the terms of all decisions made by the Cabinet (b) the reference number assigned to each such decision, and (c) the date on which the decision was made. Section 10 (2) stated that this information shall be entered on the register at the discretion of the Premier. The register was not a complete record of all decisions made by Cabinet or of the specifics of those decisions recorded in it. The complete record was made within the Cabinet Record (refer VPRS 11948). The first entries in the register (VPRS 11949) date from the commencement of the Act in July 1983, there having been no prior requirement to release this information.
