Aneuploidy influences the gene expression profiles in Saccharomyces pastorianus group I and II strains during fermentation.

We report the gene expression profile of two polypolid Saccharomyces pastorianus, lager yeast strains, the Group I strain CBS1538 and the Group II strain W34/70. Saccharomyces pastorianus is a hybrid of Saccharomuyces cerevisiaie and Saccharomyces eubayanus. We report that the gene expression patterns are correlated with the gene copy number of S. cerevisiae and S. eubayanus alleles. Overall design: The strains were grown under fermentation conditions and samples were taken on Day 2 and Day 4 of the fermentation for RNAseq analysis. The strains were also grown in minimal medium without amino acids and with (NH4)2SO4 as a nitrogen source. The transcript patterns were compared in the three conditions.
