BYD Vehicle BMI160 IMU Dataset for Harsh Braking and Lane Change Events on Sri Lankan Urban Roads

This dataset contains raw BMI160 6-axis IMU accelerometer and gyroscope logs collected inside a BYD Atto vehicle on Sri Lankan urban roads for the final year project “Vehicular Black Box: Vehicle Violation Detector”. The dataset contains two driving-event categories: harsh braking and lane change. The BMI160 breakout board was connected to a Raspberry Pi 4B using I2C and mounted flat inside the vehicle, with the chip marking/dot side oriented toward the vehicle front. Axis mapping:+X = vehicle front / forward+Y = vehicle left+Z = up / gravity axis Lane-change labels:event_class = +1: left lane changeevent_class = -1: right lane changeevent_class = 0: background / non-event The release includes raw CSV files, a processed combined CSV, session metadata, data dictionary, sensor mounting notes, collection protocol, ethics/privacy notes, and a reproducible organization script.
