The establishment of dorsal-ventral (DV) petal asymmetry is accompanied with differential growth of DV petal size, shape and color differences in Sinningia speciosa. Genes involved in flower symmetry (zygomorphy) have been identified as CYCLOIDEA (CYC) but our knowledge on what gene regulatory network (GRN) associated with it to form DV petal asymmetry is still limited. To characterize the possible associations between SsCYC and the GRN of petal growth and color, we performed RNA-seq between DV petals.
