Qualitative Data on the Cultural Adaptation of a Youth Depression Intervention in Zimbabwe and Ghana (African Youth in Mind Consortium)

The study was conducted as part of formative work for the ‘African Youth in Mind’ consortium - an NIHR Global Health Research Group on Interventions for Youth with Depression and Anxiety Disorders in African Countries, which aims to identify evidence to adapt interventions for depression for youth aged 15–24 in Zimbabwe and 15–18 in Ghana, and to test the feasibility of the adapted intervention. A cross-sectional qualitative research design was adopted for this study. We carried out semi-structured in-depth interviews, key informant interviews and focus group discussions with various stakeholders. All interviews were audiotaped and later transcribed verbatim and translated to English for analysis. In Zimbabwe and Ghana, the study was conducted in Harare and Navrongo.
