资源简介:
This series consists of green institutional case history files created and maintained at Winlaton Youth Training Centre (VA 5093) and Nunawading Youth Residential Centre (VA 5214).Client Case History Files were created for almost all the trainees at Winlaton and the Nunawading Youth Residential Centre (NYRC). The exception to this were youths who were on remand at the Winbirra section, whose stay at the centre was recorded in other documentation e.g. Winbirra Intake and Admission Forms (VPRS 18006).The Client Case History Files, known to staff as 'green files' were used at the centre from the opening of Winlaton in 1956 until the closure of the renamed Nunawading Youth Residential Centre in June 1993. The files were used to document the background of each trainee and their stay at the centre and were created by administrative staff when trainees were admitted to the centre. As well as the Client Case History Files, each trainee also had a Trainee Information File, known as a TIF (VPRS 17998). Many documents were duplicated on the Client File and the TIF. For example, admission forms and classification and review of trainee reports.Additionally, many documents on the Client Case History Files were sent to social workers at the Regional Office and / or to be placed on Head Office Files e.g. classification and review forms and psychological assessment reports.Copies of the trainees' psychological assessment reports could also be on the Psychologist's Case Files (VPRS 18018). Copies of trainees' medical reports should also be on Trainees Medical Files. However, while Wards of State had central Head Office Ward Files on which important documents relating to their stay at Winlaton/ NYRC were placed, sentenced non-wards did not. It was not until their stay at the centre was concluding that a Head Office Parole Board File was created for them. Therefore, it is possible that for sentenced non-wards some documents on the Client Case History File may be the sole existing copy. It is estimated by one of the Assistant Managers of the centre in 1992 that approximately 10% of the clients during the period from 1980 - 1993 were sentenced non-wards.
