A common index has been developed, which values and weighs individual and map-able phenomena in a common overlay model, which relies on the Urban Areas as a geographical entity. For each of the three sectors buildings, industry and transport, key parameters have been determined. Each parameter, represented by a source map, was translated into a value map by means of reclassification via a value table. Index_build_dev: Development of the built environment until 2050 Index_build_eff: Heat demand in buildings: Efficiency potentials Index_DH_pot: Ability to develop District Heating for residential and service-sector buildings Index_industr_EHA: Industrial plant excess heat potential density (based on D5.1 excess heat potentials (level 3 - current internal heat recovery rates) being converted into a density surface by a kernel density function, selecting the zonal maximum of each Urban Area) Index_industr_eff: National efficiency potentials by fuel demands in the industrial sector (based on the High Energy Efficiency scenario with Electrification and Hydrogen Fuel Shift) Index_transp_eff: National energy efficiency potentials in the transport sector (based on the Electrification+ scenario with energy efficient urban development) Index_transp_cycling: Cycling characterization (based on D5.3 layer) The value maps were then arithmetically weighted to produce a composite map, called the overall sEEnergies Index (Index_total).
