Dataset on State Elections and Riots in India

The dataset contains year-wise calculations of the state-election results in India between 2004 to 2015. We have also calculated ENP, T-Partyness and a Variant of ENP at the district level by combining the constituency level results in a district. We have used this dataset to analyze the effects of political competition and voter turnout on riots. The data on state elections is taken from the website of the Election Commission of India and the data on riots are taken from NCRB. Also, it contains data on Gini Coefficient (NSSO), and socioeconomic variables (Census India) which are used in the analysis.
