Level of Living in Longyearbyen 2000

Statistics Norway (SSB) conducts annual surveys on people's level of living. Svalbard is, however, not covered by these surveys. Central and local authorities thus desires a spesific survey on the level of living amongst residents in Svalbard. For practical reasons, the survey is focused on inhabitants of Longyearbyen.

The main purpose of the survey is to facilitate comparisons of distributions of central indicators of level og living between persons residing on the mainland and in Longyearbyen. Many of the wuestions that are included in the annual level of living surveys are therefore invluded in the survey. To ensure sensitivity to local conditions, a reference group of persons representingh central institutions on Svalbard was put together, and this reference group collaborated with SSB on the questionnaire.

The survey has two parts, one person survey and a household survey. For the person survey, the aim was to intrview the entire population, whilst for the household survey, the intent was to interview one person per household. This is the person file.

14. Family and household
15. Residence
16. Motor vehicles
