资源简介:
The author, an anthropologist, was invited to a small settlement in Hokkaido, Japan to observe the village's commercial seaweed production. He was particularly interested in Minamikayabe because of its traditional specialization in seaweeds. This provided longterm information on the economic, social and cultural factors that help make the village highly respected in the seaweed business. Described in this report are how seaweed is harvested and prepared for market, and how the families divide work and profits. The potential for transporting the Japanese village's methods to southeast Alaskan villages is discussed. Grant no. NA86AA-D-SG041
