Microsporum canis Genome sequencing and assembly

Microsporum canis is a fungal agent of dermatitis coming under the classification of dermatophytes. It is a major cause of dermatophytosis in cats and dogs. However, it can also cause infections in humans implying its public health significance. In this study, whole genome sequencing of one feline and one canine isolates of M. canis was performed to understand and unravel new genomic determinants associated with virulence, host specificity and anti fungal resistance.
