Chinese Ancient Poetry Lexical Database (CAPLD)

The Chinese Ancient Poetry Lexical Database (CAPLD) provides a large-scale lexical resource for Chinese characters spanning from 207 BC to 1911 AD. It integrates lexical statistics, contextual diversity measures, phonological annotations, and diachronic distributions for over 10,000 characters derived from classical Chinese poetry. This work was supported by the National High-Level Talent Special Support Program (Ten Thousand Talents Program) — Leading Talent Project (Grant No. 25VRC049). The repository includes: CAPLD.csv — the main lexical database containing aggregated statistics across all historical periods. Diachronic_sub-database/ — a sub-database providing dynasty-specific statistics and character embeddings. Code/ — Python scripts for data extraction and processing. This dataset supports quantitative and computational studies on the evolution of Chinese lexicon, phonology, and poetic style. License: MIT License
