资源简介:

METHOD : This experiment was conducted at York University’s Keele Campus on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the woodlot. The purpose of this experiment was to familiarize students with different plant sampling techniques used in ecological studies. Using a transect measuring tape, the DBH (Diameter of Breast Height) in cm, canopy coverage (in %), distance to nearest sapling tree of the same species in (m), and DBH (Diameter of Breast Height) of nearest sapling in (cm), was recorded on paper for a sample size of n = 10. This data was collected with other researchers in the lab named Kathleen, Christina, and Nawang. Tree Number: Identification number of each tree measured using the transect tape. DBH (Diameter of Breast Height in cm): Diameter of the trunk of a standing tree measured in centimetres. Canopy Coverage (in %): Proportion of the sky that is covered by vegetation when making a rectangle using your fingers, measured in percent. Distance to nearest sapling (in m): Distance to the closest tree of the same species measured in metres. Nearest sapling's DBH (in cm): Diameter of the trunk of the closest tree of the same species, measured in centimetres.
