Self-Acceptance of Sexuality Dataset (LGBTQ+ Mental Health Data)

This is a dataset of the self-acceptance of sexuality inventory development study. It includes data from LGBTQ+ people (16 years old and above) recruited via online advertising from around the world. The dataset includes a number of sociodemographic variables; sexual orientation and gender markers; the self-acceptance measure; measures of self-compassion processes, self-esteem, and general self-acceptance; mental health and substance use outcomes; internalised heteronormativity; community connectedness; and disclosure of sexual orientation to others. This includes item-level data and total/subscale scores.This includes three datasets combined. The initial pilot data for the new measure (N = 177) and second pilot data (N = 224), which is largely limited to the new measure and sociodemographic information. The remainder of the dataset includes all measures (N = 1,217). The variable "Platform" has a designation as to whether data is from the pilot phases or collected via advertising on various platforms for the final phase of the study. This will impact sample size for some variables.
