As soil engineers, earthworms play a clear role in soil mineral weathering. However, little is known about their transcriptome changes in response to to mineral weathering. In order to discern these changes, we studied the transcriptome of earthworms cultured in three matrices: potassium-bearing rock powder (PBRP), soil and decomposed wheat straw (DWS) using RNA-seq.
