a place where you will find an interesting geologic feature or Earth process
that will enrich your outdoor experience.<b> Similar to Geocaching,
Earthcaching </b>is an outdoor treasure hunting game in which the participants
use a GPS enabled device to navigate to a specific set of coordinates to find a
treasure. For Geocaching, the treasure is in a physical container, in
Earthcaching the treasure is the experience and discovery of part of the

Connecticut Geological Survey has created over 20 EarthCache sites in
Connecticut. These sites are designed to highlight and enhance Connecticut’s
special natural treasurers in State Parks and other open spaces.</span></font></p>

is an exciting way to learn about the Earth by getting families and friends
outdoors to experience some of the hidden (and not-so-hidden) geologic wonders
of Connecticut. Earthcaches may be found in the woods, along a trail, at
the beach or even in the middle of the city. All you need to get started
is the navigation app on your phone, or a GPS receiver, although enough
location information is provided in the EarthCache so that the site can be
found without a GPS. Use this reference map to zoom in to a desired
location to plan your trip.</span></font></p>
