Neutrophils play a principal role in the pathogenesis, progression and resolution of acute lung injury (ALI) caused by ARDS; however, the transcriptional and phenotypic heterogeneity of pulmonary neutrophils in ALI/ARDS remains largely unknown. Here, we identified transcriptionally and functionally heterogenous neutrophil subsets within LPS-induced ALI mouse lungs using single-cell RNA sequencing.
