Digital Archive from Historic Building Recording Work at Coltran Mill, Doncaster, 2024

This collection comprises image, text and GIS data from Analytical Buildings Recording Work (Level 3) and Descriptive Buildings Record (Level 2) at Coltran Mill, Doncaster. The work was undertaken by Wessex Archaeology August to November 2024. Coltran Mill was a former engineering works and a non-designated heritage asset which was initially constructed in the 1860s. The historical and architectural significance of Coltran Mill lies in its representation of 19th and early 20th-century industrial architecture and its role in the broader context of canal-side industrial development in Mexborough. The building's retention of original features, including its external brickwork, roof structures, and internal machinery, underscores its importance in understanding the industrial heritage of the area.
