Snow pit data from the FirnCover campaigns on the Greenland ice sheet (2015-2017)

In 2015, 2016 and 2017, the Firn Compaction and Verification (FirnCoVer) campaigns aiming at monitoring firn compaction on the Greenland ice sheet. At 9 sites ranging from 1840 to 2666 meters above sea level (m a.s.l.), a suite a measurements were collected during three fieldworks in April and May of 2015, 2016, and 2017. This dataset contains all the snow pit data collected during these expeditions. Measurements include at least snow density measured with either tubular, box or wedge cutter and in several instances snow temperature, stratigraphy and grain size. The data is provided both in as a single Excel file with one sheet per pit in NASA SnowEx format, and as separate CSV files with informative headers (a.k.a. NEAD (Non-Binary Environmental Archive Data) files: https://opendata.swiss/en/dataset/non-binary-environmental-data-archive-nead-format). This repository is complementary to the FirnCover compaction measurements available at https://doi.org/10.18739/A25X25D7M.
