The PRIBES Project: A survey of exotic arthropods in Azorean disturbed coastal ruderal habitats

This dataset synthesises standardised arthropod sampling across seven Azorean islands (79 sites; 23,547 specimens), providing an archipelago-scale baseline for ruderal and edge-associated assemblages and enabling reproducible cross-island comparisons. It reports 366 taxa (247 identified to species/subspecies plus 119 morphospecies), with the unresolved morphospecies pool representing a practical “identification frontier” that can be enriched in recent arrivals when introduction pressure is high. The dataset includes major distributional updates (61 new island records and one new record for the Azores—Dipoena melanogaster), supporting rapid assessment of range expansions and potential emerging pests. For all identified taxa, colonisation status is summarised (introduced, endemic, native non-endemic), offering a quantitative snapshot useful for biosecurity surveillance and conservation planning in dynamic island landscapes
