COI deep amplicon sequencing of mixed strongyle infections in untreated equines

Cyathostomins (small strongyles) and large strongyles extracted from untreated horses (Kentucky, USA) were extracted from faeces and collected from several gut compartments upon necropsy. Horses were part of a reserach herd known as 'Population S', which has a proven history of benzimidazole and pyrimidine-resistant cyathostomin species (Lyons, 2003). All samples were sequenced for the purpose of species identification and species composition analysis using Cytochromeoxidase I target amplicon on Illumina MiSeq.
