Fading of Madder Lake Pigment

Overview This repository contains files related to quantitative and qualitative analysis of colour change in madder lake acrylic paint due to light exposure. These analyses where conducted on 11 paint swatch samples where each was diveded in three sections. One section was totally covered from light, one section was covered by a UV-blocking TruVue glass and the last section was left uncovered. The information was gathered as part of an assessment given in course KONS4052 at the University of Oslo (UiO) in 2025/2026. This repository contains three files: Colorimetry madder lake CIElab76 contains colorimetry data from five points on each section of each sample, making up 165 measurements in total. Measurements were taken in the CIELAB colour space, giving L, a and b values, as well as a combined E value. DeltaE madder lake covered uncovered TruVue contains calculated Delta E values, which is the quantified colour difference between each section for each sample. Survey data contains results of a survey related to observed colour change between the sections for each sample. Use The data is published as CSV-files and can be opened using applications such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Apple Numbers.
