This projects aims to profile microbial communities associated with the Arabian Peninsula desert. These ecosystems are understudied and they contain crucial microbes with unique functions that are likely adapted to the harsh environmental conditions. Identifying these microbes could benefit other ecological systems such as agriculture. For example, using these microbes as bio-inoculants for heat or drought sensitive crops can increase resilience of heat with the global warming.
