This dataset is a statistical table of forest area categorized by forest types and sub-types, based on the key findings of the 9th National Forest Resources Inventory. It covers 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government of China (excluding Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao), including shelterbelts (water conservation forests, soil and water conservation forests, windbreak and sand-fixation forests, agro-pastoral shelterbelts, bank-protection forests and road-protection forests), special purpose forests (national defense forests, experimental forests, seed orchards, environmental protection forests, scenic forests, historic and memorial forests and nature reserve forests), timber forests (short-rotation forests, fast-growing and high-yield forests and general timber forests), firewood forests, and economic forests (fruit forests, edible raw material forests, forest chemical raw material forests and medicinal forests).
